Welcome Carl Gray to NVSC

Carl Gray joins NVSC

We are proud to announce the hire of Carl Gray.  A pioneer who has impacted soccer and players in our community for the past 40 years.  We are excited to have Carl and the wealth of experience he brings to our team.  

TDOC Hans Etienne said this about the addition of Carl Gray to NVSC “The presence of Carl Gray joining our club will bring forth educational opportunities and tactical awareness for our players and coaches.  Along with coaching 3 of our teams in the coming year, he will also be our Director of Coaching Education. We welcome Carl to our club and look forward to working with him.”

After playing both youth and High School Soccer in Trenton, NJ, Carl played college soccer at Frostburg State University.  Captain of his college team for two years he was selected as an All-South/All-American player in 1970.  At the end of his college career he owned every single school scoring record many of which still exist today.  Frostburg State University honored Carl by electing him to the University Athletic Hall of Fame in 1975.   Carl played professional soccer for the Ukrainian United in the Inter-National League a professional league that existed prior to the establishment of the NASL.
 
Carl has been coaching in Virginia for the past 40 years and has taken 7 different teams to the final four of Virginia State Cup.  As an ODP State Coach Carl’s teams have twice played for the National Championship.  
 
Carl has traveled internationally, his teams have competed in numerous International events and several years one of the teams he coached became the first team from the USA to win the Italy Youth International Tournament.  He has also spent time in India representing USA Soccer working with teams from India to prepare for the Commonwealth Games while also presenting Coaching Education courses.
 
Club Champions League has chosen Carl as Head Coach for the CCL 01 Boys team that will compete in the Gothia Cup, the largest youth international tournament in the world, this summer.
